The Buccleuch Arms is a family-owned, relaxed and welcoming country hotel with open log fires, comfy sofas and individually designed rooms, set in the pretty village of St. Boswells, near Melrose.  We take pride in providing personal and friendly service and good home cooked food sourced from local suppliers.

2011 is a landmark year for us. Not only has the Buccleuch been awarded with Investors in People for the very first time, the culmination of an 18 month project, but most recently The Buccleuch has been voted Scottish Inn of the Year 2011. We believe this is particularly significant given that 2011 is our 175th anniversary.

We have 19 individually designed en-suite guest bedrooms that  have a fresh and bright feel. Our housekeepers take great pride in providing our guests with sparkly clean and comfortable bedrooms.  Enjoy morning coffee, afternoon tea or pre-dinner drinks in our spacious and elegant lounge.  In the colder months, you are guaranteed to warm your cockles next to our blazing log fires with a large glass of Macallan malt whisky..  The main bar serves delicious home cooked local produce and features guest ales and a well priced and simple wine list.

Food plays a very important part of our business at the Buccleuch, whether it’s our fabulous breakfasts, morning coffee with home-made scones or award winning bar meals. Whilst our menus change with the seasons we make great use of our specials board which often change twice daily.

Our chef, Angela O’Callaghan, and her team use as many locally sourced ingredients as possible in our effort to support business in the Scottish Borders countryside. We keep the dishes simple the flavours speak for themselves.

Food is served 7 days a week in the cosy Huntsman Bar or in our Blue Room restaurant for a more intimate dining experience. Complimenting the food is a well-stocked bar and a select wine list featuring the best wines from around the globe. Keep an eye out too for our guest ales which are a big hit with the locals. We believe our friendly and well trained staff will make your meal a comfortable and most memorable one.

The Buccleuch Arms in St Boswells is located smack bang at the heart of the Scottish Borders.  We are a four star inn with an incredible history originally built by the 5th Duke of Buccleuch in 1836.

Significantly, we were also delighted to receive Scottish Inn of the Year award.

We have 19 fresh and bright en-suite guest bedrooms.  Teresa and her team of housekeepers take great pride in providing our guests with sparkly clean and comfortable bedrooms.

Guests can choose from Standard, Classic or Superior rooms. We have double, twin and king size rooms and cater for single occupancy too.

Set yourself up for the day with a good selection of breakfast choices, including a traditional Scottish Grill. Chef patron, Billy Hamilton and Head Chef, Gareth Gilder create delicious lunches and dinners every day using lots of seasonal and fresh local produce. In the bar, we serve real ale from the Borders Brewery and offer a well priced and undemanding wine list.

Take a look at where we are on the map, The Buccleuch (pronounced ‘bucloo’) is a five minute walk from the River Tweed.  For walkers, we are along the St. Cuthbert’s Way and near to the Southern Upland Way.  For golfers, St. Boswells has a great golf course.  The village also has a cricket pitch, garage, a co-op, a country sports shop and a fabulous book shop and cafe, called Mainstreet Trading.
